Things To Do for a Greener Planet

  • When choosing your energy provider, go for a company that has part of its energy generated from wind or from the sun.
  • There are a few small things you can do to reduce the costs of heating or cooling your apartment. Seal drafts around windows and doors. Make sure your home has adequate insulation. Use covers on your air conditioner during those cold winter months.
    Fluorescent Lightbulb
  • Choose fluorescent bulbs. Even if they cost more than normal light bulbs, they last 10 times longer. It will also keep half a ton of carbon dioxide out of the air.
  • When shopping for appliances, go for the energy-efficient models, marked with the Energy Star label.
  • Leave your car at home when you can and choose alternative means of transportation (bikes, public transport, walking) or share the car with your friends or neighbors.
  • Keep your tires inflated! This would reduce gas consumption in the U.S. alone by 2% while a new air filter could get you 10% more miles per gallon.

Take the small steps and convince others to follow your advice. Set an example and have your saying in saving the planet!
