With the ever growing threat of pollution and global warming, being environmentally aware is becoming very popular. People are trying to reduce activities that damage our planet and looking for greener, natural and ethical alternatives. Here are the choices you can make to make a planet a cleaner place:
Body products - Most of these contain strong chemicals and synthetic ingredients that are often tested on animals.
Bodyshop is the first company that introduced natural body products, after which countless other suppliers of natural products have entered the market.
Energy - Improving the energy efficiency of your home can save you money and reduce global warming. For more information, check out our other article on how you can save energy.
Water - This is a valuable, but not plentiful resource. Water conservation is possible within the home and at little cost. Limit the time you spend in the shower, avoid using much water for watering the garden and don’t leave it running without needing it.
Recycle - Most of your waste goes in the a huge hole in the ground. This hole is filling up quickly and our society is producing more and more garbage. Try to reduce the amount of garbage you throw away and recycle as often as possible.
Food - Organic food is becoming more and more popular. This is the healthy food, without any additives, with higher levels of vitamin C and essential minerals. Organic food comes from trusted farms and food companies, that are inspected at least once a year.
Transport - Using a car to get around consumes valuable resources and harms the environment. Ask yourself if the trip is really necessary and if there’s no other means of getting there. Public transportation is a good choice if you want to save money and breath a cleaner air. Flying is also a significant contributor to global warming due to the emissions from the fuel it uses.
Money - Direct even a small part of your investments to a non-profit organization that combats global warming. It will do a lot of good for you and those around you!
Jobs - Careers in the environmental industry can be extremely rewarding. This industry has experienced huge growth so you’re bound to find a pleasant job. Even volunteering in your free time can help the environment considerably!
The way we live our life is a key to carbon dioxide mitigation. For instance, doing away with most luxury items in your lifestyle really do help minimize exhaust fumes which encourage global warming, even though it might not be obvious at first.
Still, it would help if the cars and other vehicles manufactured are made fuel efficient and with just the right size of engine to reduce the use of fossil fuels. Muscle cars and SUVs? Maybe we can do without them, although I’m sure a lot of people would protest.

You do have a list of simple and achievable things that we could all do to make the Earth a better place to live in. Sometimes we forget that little acts such as using both sides of the paper, or turning off the tap when brushing our teeth contributes so much to the environment.
Thanks for the list!
This list is wonderful. Thank you. Another way to greatly reduce greenhouse emmisions is to eat a vegetarian or even better, a vegan diet. The myriad processes that are incorporated to produce meat and dairy products use enormous amounts of resources. (to produce a pound of beef requires 2000 gallons of water) Switching to a veg diet has a greater impact on CO2 emmisions than NOT DRIVING A CAR! The amazing thing about this is that we can all make this switch rather quickly, whereas the idea of not using a combustion engine to get us around will take a little more transition.
One thing that can be added to the green life style list is green eco-fashion. We all buy and wear clothes and buying ecological and organic materials can make a lot of difference for the planet , for our own health and for the people working in the fields. The manufacturing of e.g. cotton can produce a lot of damage to the planet . This means looking out for that
materials used in the collections are produced ecologically and environmentally sustainable without pesticides or artificial fertilizers.
Material can be recycled.
The workers in the fields have decent conditions including resonable wages etc.
No child labour.
Personally, I like ecological materials e.g bamboo T-shirts. Actually right now I’m wearing hemp, both in shoes and hats, from Simple Shoes in California, very smart looking items, comfortable and recycled.
These kind of clothes and shoes and more information can found at
Berthas Eco Fashion.
