Located in Okinawa, Japan, the Churaumi Aquarium is an impressive achievement, being the second largest aquarium in all the world. Churaumi is part of the Ocean Expo Commemorative National Government Park located in Motobu, Okinawa and it can hold up to 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) and plays home to many sea creatures, including whale sharks and manta rays. This is one of the few places where you can see whale sharks in captivity, the Churaumi officials even trying to breed some of them. Have a look at one of the most impressive destination for animal lovers worldwide!

mmmmm…breaded whale shark.
that’s truly huge for human
but still small for the whale
The window is atleast 1,5 meters thick, about 7 feet. I watched this program on Discovery and they said that the window was made by 15 different pices.
so sad because they are the largest whale hunters!
superb
BANATEANU’s last blog post..Niste tarani: partea a III-a
I have been there. Its pretty sweet. Its free to go to the outside part, and see the dolphin shows, manatees, turtles, ect, but cots like $15 to get to the big tank. Well worth it though. Happily suprised when I Stumbled upon this today.
I suppose they have a closing time, otherwise how do they get people to leave?
i don’t know what the first picture is but the rest are of the aquarium in Atlanta Georgia
It is so sad to see the whale sharks in captivity. I wonder how that makes them feel… They need a big big space. No aquarium will ever be enough. In our neck of the woods, we can swim with the whale sharks. Maybe you buys should just come over here instead…what a pity.
everything underwater is amazing and somehow above us yet because they are underneath us geographically-we despise their domain and pollute in many ways just because we cannot see- literally
Love these photos!
Marvelous photos. I feel like I’m there. Now I want to visit there. Thanks for sharing this.
I would love to go there. I am really into this stuff. I can see this aquarium is eco-friendly. Its truly a piece of creativity.
I think I will take my kids with me. They will love it
