Hope, the dog without front legs

Hope, a two legged Maltese puppy, had a though time ever since she was born without its from legs. Hope first moved around by hopping, but doctors said this will eventually damage the dog’s bones and spine. So doctors thought about helping the little dog get around.

Orthotist David Turnbill created a device for Hope with makeshift shoulder joints with wheels from a model airplane. Each of the new arms move independently, allowing Hope to easily turn. The dog can even sit down or sit up without having to remove the device. The most difficult part was teaching the dog to walk normally, considering all it knew until now was hopping. Hope was taken in by Southern Comfort Maltese Rescue in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA when she was six weeks old.

  13. I am an animal lover and so very happy and so deeply touched that there are people will go the extra mile to give puppy Hope a chance to have a normal and comfortable life even with her handicap. More kudos to those very caring people..we need more of them in this world.
