A Six-Legged Deer Discovered After Attack

A mutant, six-legged deer was discovered in Everett Springs, Georgia in the US after being viciously attacked by two dogs.  The little one has two distinct pelvises and uses one leg from each to walk. It also had two tails but lost one following the attack of the dogs. The fawn is now recovering slowly but surely at the West Rome Animal Clinic, in Rome, Georgia.

The veterinarian treating it said the deer’s case is truly abnormal: the legs are part of a twin that didn’t form all the way. It seems to move pretty well, considering the two central legs almost always get in the way. The owners of the dogs said they realized the mutation right after they separated the dogs from the deer and wanted to release it.

Nonetheless, the little one can barely survive in the wilderness on its own. According to the veterinarian, it will be taken at the deer facility at the University of Georgia once it has recovered. Here is a video of fawn trying to run around.

  2. This is why people who consider themselves environmentalists should care about REAL threats to our planet, not taxing a gas we exhale. Cross species cymerias, nerve toxin dumping in the atlantic, Depleted Uranium testing grounds around the world, toxic waste dumping, genetically modfied food (most likely cause of this) and Fluoride in the water.

  3. Well this is clearly a case of global warming. We reached a tipping point where the amount of CO2 inhaled by expecting mammal mothers causes strange mutations in their offspring. If we do not immediately all walk to work tomorrow and hence forth, all mammals will start being born with six legs and become indistinguishable from insects. I base this on the overwhelming evidence presented by the several thousand scientists that reside in my head.

The end is nigh! Linch oil CEOs!!

  5. Gibbwake, you make no sense. You can’t genetically modify food and end up with mutant deer. Unless deer is your primary source of food and you genetically modified deer.

Also, “chimeras” is how you spell that word, not “cymerias” or whatever you’re trying to type. Chimeras also have no effect on the environment, provided we prevent them from becoming feralized. But really, that’s the same problem we already have–introducing non-native species will continue to be a problem in today’s world regardless of whether we make chimeras. Besides, most of our food plants are chimeras; without them we wouldn’t be able to support as many people as we do.

Lastly, there are no “depleted uranium testing grounds”. Depleted uranium is tested in labs, then at army bases or other places with armor or ammo to practice on, and finally in battle.

So in conclusion, you’re a moron.

  6. Um…. Gibbwake, you’re a fool.
    1) Everett Springs, Georgia, is - as we all know - a nerve-gas & uranium test site, a fluoride haven and probably where the government is hiding all those UFOs that have visited us, like that Apollo astronaut said.
    2) A single 6-legged deer, an epidemic doth not make.
    3) Genetically modified foods don’t make freak-babies. Where did you even get that?
    4) Mutations happen naturally occasionally. Like the one that caused you to be born with a clump of dirt for a brain.

Maybe you should march on Washington to protest the dogs attacking the deer in the first place. They probably only did that because of genetically modified food or global warming or dumping shit in the Atlantic or in solidarity with whales or something.

  7. GMO food leads to unexpected mutations in the food and can cause unpredictable changes. Chimeras have a huge effect on the environment - its how new diseases get started. If you cross bred a chimera human with a pig, a common pig virus that is harmless to humans could mutate and then being wiping us out. They are currently making these freaks of nature now! Google spider goats.

There are actually 12 DU proving grounds all over the country. The 3 biggest:
    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/jefferson.htm

    Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
    Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona.
    Jefferson Proving Ground, Indiana.

    A map:
    http://www.venusproject.com/ethics_in_action/Depleted_Uranium_files/fig219.gif

It is highly radioactive on contact and causes massive defects. Google the term and click on images and lose your lunch. Google Doug Rockie for more info.

As for you Jakov, check this out regarding fluoride. Get this crap out of your water stat, its giving you cancer, dumbing you down, and making your bones brittle:

  9. A few years ago, I worked for TVA temporarily. Several of the “higher ups” and some of us grunts were sitting in the break room one day during lunch discussing (per usual in the deep south) hunting. The manager of that particular office had worked at the TVA facility in Oak Ridge and how the hunters had to have their kills tested for radiation!! Turns out that many, many years beyond all the “secret” things that were going on at Oak Ridge (you know, dumping chemicals into the rivers and creeks and wilderness in eastern Tennessee, building the atom bomb, etc.) that the area is still quite radioactive. She said that many of the hunters lost their deer because they were way too radioactive to be handled, much less eaten.

So — my point in all this is - of COURSE there are 6 legged deer. There are 2 headed fish and frogs and hard telling what else. Environmentalists -AND EVERYONE ELSE- needs to worry about stuff like this as opposed to some of the much less threatening issues that still surround us (and our land and our water supplies and our air).

  10. Susan mutations like this happen naturally all the time. There is no reason to assume this has anything to do with human activity.

    Posted by Edward | July 26, 2008, 2:02 pm
  11. All of you who are claiming this was caused by global warming or some kind of radiation are morons. Once every now and again, there will be a mutation in developing embyros. This sort of this is caused when one twin embryo fuses to another… It’s nothing more than biology. Take siamese twins as an example, only both are alive and fully developed in that case.

Try learning things before you try to act smart by commenting a story like this. It’s all about the environment, global warming and human error until you learn things, then, and only then, will you realise how dumb you’re being.

  12. Amazing. Never have I seen such a thing.
