Odd animal friendships are perhaps are favorite subject, when it comes to blogging. After the friendship between a cat and a bear and the forced bonding of a cat with some monkeys, we’re going to take a look at something more common, but still heartwarming. The kitty and the golden Labrador retriever are inseparable buddies ever since they were introduced by their owner.

Adorable.

Adorable!
But the caption is wrong…it’s a Labrador retriever, not a golden…
Cute but its not a golden retriver its a yellow lab
I have a scrap book from the 60s and 70s that I found at a thrift store. The whole thing is devoted to inter-species relationships. Puppies with monkeys, gorillas with kittens, babies with ducks…you name it. Brilliant!
I can has Cheezburger?
How do you guys know it is a yellow lab? That looks a lot like a golden retriever to me. Perhaps you aren’t familiar with European golden retrievers who are white? The facial features of the dog are clearly not that of a lab.
Thank you for sharing these most heart-warming photos…such a beautiful pair of friends…they are so lucky to have eachother!
Like Abbott and Costello,
Like Sonny and Cher,
Like Martin and Lewis,
They’re a perfect pair.
Like Laurel and Harvey,
Like Fontette and Lunt,
They’re perfectly mismatched;
They’re Rita and Runt!
Sebastian - Goldens are a long haired breed, Lab are (relatively) short-haired. That dog is plainly a yellow lab (perhaps not purebred, but close). His (Her?) face is a standard lab face. See here for more info:

Grew up on a farm. All of our many dogs and cats got along just fine. Last dog was a very big 100 lb (45k)Sheppard-Chow cross. It protected our cat and home like a security detail. When cat was chased by any strange dog or another cat, it jumped back into our yard for protection with it’s Chow dog. The fight was on, and the ’stranger’ was routed every time.

When I was a kid our dog and cats got along well too. For some reason the dog would eat the cats food and the cats would eat the dogs food. Go figure?

Dogs and cats get along much better than people realize. I’ve been in more households that have dogs and cats that care for each other more than I’ve been in ones where they fight.
With the holidays coming up, make sure they get a Christmas stocking, too, for being so darn cute!!!

Nice to see that some animals can become friends with their natural enemies. It is a pity that the trait is not so common with humans.
cheers

My dog loves my cat. My cat tolerates my dog! It’s very funny when my 92lb mastiff puts her head in front of the cat when he’s lying on the couch and the cat will start cleaning her nose. My dog returns the favor with giant licks around his ears. Her tongue is as big as his head!
